Inspiring Indigenous Kids to Reach the Next Level
The Indigenous Reading Project utilises technology to improve access to engaging literature to children who are struggling to reach the standards of their peers.
As of 2018, they’ve reached over 1000 students in over 300 urban and regional schools, and to achieve these goals, the Project has used the affordable, reliable and robust Lenovo Tab 7 Essential.
The results show these children are more engaged, perform better in class and consistently improve their overall reading fluency and comprehension scores throughout the program.
"The success of this partnership can be seen here at Queanbeyan South Public school where the average number of books borrowed per student exceeded 24 this year. Helping to contribute to this result was the time and effort our school put into ensuring students received the support they needed to succeed. This included setting aside a dedicated teacher to drive the program forward. Together with the support of their family, friends and the school, the 2018 IRP program students were motivated to read and engage with both the technology and the literature it gave them access to"
